RSE

In RSE we considered the question ‘What makes a good friend?’

We sang the song ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ and then matched the labels to the correct body parts on the pictures.

Oral Health Educator

Chloe, the oral health educator from Plummers, visited to teach us about the equipment dentists wear and use. We learned why teeth are important, and their names and functions. We also thought about how to keep our teeth healthy by brushing them, by eating healthy and by visiting the dentist.

Emerald Class Dentist Visit

We had a visit from the ‘Dental Nurse’. We have been learning how to keep our teeth and gums healthy. We looked at what foods and drinks were good and bad for our teeth. We also were shown how to brush our teeth properly and for how long.

Residential

What a wonderful time Year 5 and 6 had on residential to How Hill. They learned how to dissect an owl pellet and what owls eat, and how to analyse the quality of the water in the broads. They learned what animal life there is on the broads and at How Hill from a boat trip, from dyke dipping and from setting animal camera traps. They also learned how to read a compass and completed some complicated orienteering courses. The pupils were amazing and we hope to return to How Hill to learn more about our broads in the summer.

Emerald Class RSHE

Jacob said, “I am happiest when I am at a beach finding treasure.”

Eryn said, “She is kind and friendly they are her best qualities.“

Iria said, “Everyone would think the same.”

Amy said, “She is cheeky, happy and kind.”

RSHE: Relationships

In RSHE, we are learning about relationships. We have been thinking about our similarities and differences by sharing which toys and books we prefer.

Emotion Bottles

Year 5 and 6 have been learning about how their emotions may change during puberty. They created emotion bottles, filling them full of different materials to represent their different emotions. Some made hearts from pipe cleaners to represent love and used a spiralled pipe cleaner to show the whirlwind effect they puberty can have on emotions.

House and Deputy House Captains Meeting

We met to organise our responsibilities and duties for the year. We discussed how to ensure our school is a safe community where everyone shares a love of learning. We are going to ensure all pupils have a reflection area where they can have quiet time and an area where they can play with new equipment. Look out for updates as to what we have achieved!

Sharing Our Empathy Stories

Year 4, 5 and 6 read their own empathy stories to the Year 2 and 3s. Every story had a message about having empathy for others and Year 2 and 3 enjoyed learning from their peers the importance of understanding others.
