Collective Worship – Our Core Value of Responsibility

Our core value this half term is responsibility. We worked with partners to write a prayer to God and hung them on our prayer tree. Every collective worship, we pray to God using our prayer tree prayers. We also always say the Lord’s Prayer.

Open the Book – Joseph

Joseph and his Brothers: Open the Book told us the story of Joseph and his brothers. We heard how their jealousy led them to send their brother away. He then became important and when they needed help he was there for them.

Remembrance Assembly

The whole school met together for collective worship on Friday 11th November to remember Armistice Day. We thought about why and how we remember the day and observe the two-minute silence. We finished with a prayer and the Lord’s prayer.

Collective Worship – Mrs Gay

Mrs Jane Gay from the Baptist Church visited us to lead our collective worship. She read us a Bible story and we discussed how sometimes it is difficult to do the right thing. We discuss how following our school values we always try to do the right thing.

House Captains Collective Worship

This Monday, the house captains took our collective worship. They taught us about the school value respect and involved the school in the presentation. We sang ‘From the Tiny Ant’ and thought about respecting all animals.

Collective Worship – Circles

In our circle assembly, we discussed ways we could save energy in school.

 Our ideas included:

  • Opening the curtains and blinds to let light in
  • Turning off lights when we leave a room
  • Turning off taps
  • Wearing more layers
  • Only putting on the heating when we need it

Harvest Festival

We celebrated our Harvest Festival in St Margaret’s Church Fleggburgh with Reverend Steven. We thanked God for our local harvest and talked about produce at our local farm. Year 6 explained how we used their pumpkins to make soup and Emerald Class talked about how we made potato scones with the potatoes we harvested.

Diamond Class finished our service with prayers of thanks and then everyone came back to school for Harvest Tea.

Making Soup

The Year Sixes were lucky enough to pick a pumpkin but struggled to carry it. We made a big soup with them and this is how we made it. We started with taking out the middle of the pumpkin. Then we took out the seeds and put them in a bowl. After that, we cut the pumpkin into cubes. Then we put them in a bowl then put them in a cooking pot. We had to peel the delicious onions and cut them up. Fortunately, James seemed to be immune to the onions, unfortunately for everyone else they cried. Next, we added our finally chopped onions to our cubes of pumpkin in the cooker. We poured some vegetable stock into the cooker before finally putting the lids on, turning the heat up. When it was cooked, it was delicious.

Year 6

Making Scones

We worked in mixed age groups to make potato scones for the harvest festival. We carefully followed the recipe adding milk, butter, flour, baking powder and cheese. When they were baked we shared them with our families. Elsie thought they were delicious. Levi said, “They were good.”
